鈥楩rom Real to Imagined鈥 exhibition opens at MSU student union gallery

STARKVILLE, Miss.鈥擟olorful, imaginative works by a Starkville visual artist are on display through Nov. 2 in 亚洲色吧视频鈥檚 Colvard Student Union Art Gallery.
Titled 鈥淔rom Real to Imagined,鈥 the second-floor exhibition features MSU and nature-inspired paintings by Vicksburg native Jeanette Jarmon.
Regular gallery hours are 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday-Friday, as well as by appointment. Guests are encouraged to sign the art gallery visitor鈥檚 log for the duration of Jarmon鈥檚 exhibition.
A public reception in Jarmon鈥檚 honor takes place Tuesday [Oct. 10] from 5-6:30 p.m. in the Union art gallery. Complimentary refreshments will be served.
Owner of the company 鈥淎rt By JNet,鈥 Jarmon incorporates a variety of artistic styles in her work, including images of MSU鈥檚 Left Field Lounge and Chapel of Memories. In addition to outdoor scenes depicting Mississippi cotton fields, sunsets and gardens, Jarmon enjoys creating works inspired by the woods on Tibbee Creek in the middle of the Golden Triangle, where she currently resides.
Running the gamut from realism, abstract and non-objective, much of Jarmon鈥檚 artwork is based on a variety of personal, cultural, historical and local influences, as well as inspiration gleaned from her travels to places as far as Paris, Costa Rica and Kenya.
Jarmon鈥檚 paintings have won the Mark E. Keenum Award and Merit Award at the Starkville Cotton District Arts Festival, along with a number of awards from other shows. In addition to MSU, Jarmon鈥檚 work has been shown in such locations as Clinton, Columbus, Jackson, Oxford and Ridgeland.
After her three sons graduated from MSU, Jarmon began collaborating with 亚洲色吧视频 Bully Babies clothing store in Starkville to produce several MSU-licensed fine art paintings for prints on canvas, bags and postcards. She also paints portrait commissions and teaches private lessons.
Jarmon earned a master鈥檚 degree in education/art from Mississippi College. A National Board Certified Art Teacher, she taught in both public and private schools and has a lifetime teacher certificate for private schools in Mississippi. For more, visit .
