The combined recognitions for MSU鈥檚 Office of Public Affairs, which includes the University Television Center and its MSU Films documentary brand, are for a variety of short- and long-form content either traditionally broadcast or published on social media platforms. UTC鈥檚 eight nominations tell stories representative of life in the Magnolia State, from the impact of Vietnamese American fishing communities on the Gulf Coast to Starkville鈥檚 first female firefighter fulfilling her civic duties, while OPA鈥檚 social media team鈥檚 focus is more on life as a Bulldog student.

鈥淭he University Television Center and MSU Films have become one of the university鈥檚 premier storytelling teams, bringing national visibility and critical acclaim to their excellent work,鈥 said MSU Vice President for Strategic Communications Sid Salter. 鈥淧ast and present, their Emmy-winning work shines a bright light on MSU鈥檚 impact and service. The team that Associate Director David Garraway has built and leads is top shelf and performs at the highest levels, and we are understandably proud of them.

鈥淎lso nominated this year is our Social Media Team, including Chief Marketing Officer Thomas Broadus, Social Media Strategist Sarah Triplett and Video Producer Sarah Kirk,鈥 Salter added. 鈥淭he growth and sophistication of the university鈥檚 social media output is phenomenal and returns significant value to the university because of the quality, variety and relevance of the messaging.鈥
